Ponad 90 procent informacji jest zapisywane w postaci cyfrowej. Zasoby tej skali są określane jako Big Data. Analiza Big Data może stanowić nowe źródło cennych informacji. W badaniu proces uzyskiwania tych źródeł jest określany jako rafinacja informacji z sieci —rafinacja Web. Potwierdzeniem przydatności rafinacji są wyniki prognoz wsparcia dla każdej z partii politycznych biorących udział w wyborach parlamentarnych i prezydenckich w Polsce w 2011 r. i 2015 r. Przyjęta metodologia i wyniki badań ilościowych dowodzą, że rafinacja sieciowych zasobów informacyjnych może być wiarygodnym źródłem informacji o stanie i zmianach w politycznych sympatiach w okresie poprzedzającym wybory.

More than 90 percent of information is recorded in digital form. Resources of this scale are referred as a Big Data. Analysis of this information can provide a new source of valuable information. In the study the process of obtaining them – especially from social networking sites – is named refining of network information/refining the Web. Confirmation a usefulness of refining are the results of predictions of support for each of the political parties participating in the parliamentary and presidential elections in Poland in 2011 and 2015. The adopted methodology and the results of quantitative research shows that refining of data only from the Web can be a reliable source of information about the status of and changes in the political sympathies at the time of run-up to elections.
