The article presents various activities of the Polish Institute of Arts and Sciences of America (PIASA) in New York, with particular reference to the congresses of Polish scholars from the US and Canada (New York 1966, New York 1971, Montreal 1975). Organised under PIASA’s patronage, the congresses aimed to integrate the community of Polish émigré scholars, to document their output and to promote it at an international level.
