The study involved the issue of organic farming, which was analyzed through the prism of certifying authorities and inspectors in the organic farming system. Initially there were operating four certifying authorities (1997-2001), which increased as the number of organic farms, reaching a state of ten units at present. The main function of certifying authorities was independent and objective audit entities involved in the production of organic food. To control organic farms there were appointed inspectors who in the number of more than 400 people are responsible for the condition of 27 thousand such economic entities. In the light of the research the inspectors were generally characterized by higher education (95,6%), especially agricultural education (92,5%). They worked both on the basis of an employment contract (11,8%), as well as based on contract of mandate or contract work (88,2%). Women represented 49,7% population and men 50,3%. A characteristic feature of inspectors was a young age; the age up to 40 years was 52,2% of respondents.
