The aim of the article is to present chosen foreign research results on the relation between pre-marriage cohabitation and marriage quality. An attempt at answering the following question was made: does cohabitation correlate with marriage quality? If yes, how? On the basis of review of chosen research results it was found that informal relations significantly correlate with low level of marriage quality. Among all the presented research results only one established a link between pre-marriage sexual act and high level of partner relations in future marriage.
