Languages of publication
The main aim of the article is to analyse social trust and the level of association in Poland in the beginning of XXI Century. The paper refers to Robert Putnam’s theoretical concept of social capital presented primarily in the book “Making Democracy Work. Civic Traditions in Modern Italy”. According to Putnam’s theory “bridging” social capital is a factor favouring the activity of public institution and contributes to increasing civic engagement. The level of association and social trust are subjects of social surveys carried out in Poland since the year 2002. Due to the fact, that those surveys are based on the same methodical assumptions they can be used to determining long-term trends.
