The article below contains an analysis of psalm concerto Ach Herr, strafe mich nicht in deinem Zorn of Johann Valentin Meder in musical-rhetorical paradigm. The investigation process covered analysis and interpretation of Psalm’s 6th meaning and expression, which were basis for musical component of the concerto. Afterwards, disposition of the text became an object of the analysis, which included actions like indicating the number of phrases or single words and their interpretation regarding the symbolical meaning of numbers. Finally, the relationships between music and text in regard to the composition and musical-rhetoric techniques (such as modes, musical-rhetorical fi gures and other means applied in order to emphasize the meaning and expression of the text and to transmit the main message of the text) were examined. Result of the analysis described above was a claim, that naming Johann Valentin Meder a musicus poeticus is fully justified.
