Autorka publikuje materiały obejmujące zapisy interpretacji snów i opowieści o snach. Zostały one zebrane przez autorkę w czasie specjalnych badań w latach 1987–1991 na całym terytorium Polski. Oprócz własnych materiałów terenowych, uwzględnia także zapisy objaśnień snów notowane w niektórych opublikowanych sennikach i słownikach gwarowych, jak również dane rękopiśmienne. Materiały ułożone są w trzy grupy. W pierwszej kolejności autorka podaje wybrane z pełnego sennika ludowego elementy kosmosu, które funkcjonują jako obrazy (czyli to, co pojawia się we śnie jako element znaczący) i otrzymują odpowiadające im wykładnie (objaśnienia) wedle formuły zdania: „jeśli śni się X, to nastąpi Y”. Jest to semantyczny słownik symboli sennych. Obok słownika semantycznego zestawia równolegle słownik onomazjologiczny, pokazujący, jakie elementy kosmosu funkcjonują jako wykładnie. Zależność między elementami w tym słowniku sprowadza do następującej formuły: „będzie (nastąpi) Y, jeśli śni się X”. Po słownikach przywołuje opowieści o snach, zwłaszcza te, które przez informatorów traktowane są jako prorocze i spełnione.

The author publishes materials that are the records of dream interpretations and stories about dreams. The materials were collected all around Poland by the author during special research between 1987—1991. Apart from her own materials collected during field-trips, the author also takes into account records of dream interpretations that were available in some published dream books and dialectal dictionaries, and also data from manuscripts. The materials are arranged into three groups. Firstly, the author presents the elements of the cosmos that function as images (i.e. elements that appear in dreams as significant) selected from the entire folk dream book. The elements in question are then interpreted according to the following formula: “if one dreams about X, then Y will happen”. This is a semantic dictionary of dream symbols. Along with the semantic dictionary, the author provides onomasiological dictionary showing which elements of the cosmos function as interpretations. The relationship between elements in this dictionary comes down to the following formula: “Y will happen (will come about) if one dreams about X”. After providing the dictionaries, the author quotes stories about dreams, especially the ones treated as prophetic or fulfilled by the informants.
