Niniejszy artykuł jest próbą dokonania analizy historycznej eseju wspomnienio¬wego autorstwa byłego oficera Oddziału II Sztabu Generalnego Wojska Polskiego i wy¬sokiego rangą urzędnika przedwojennego Ministerstwa Spraw Zagranicznych Wiktora Tomira Drymmera. Drymmer poświęcił swoją publikację operacji Trust, tj. akcji dezin-formacyjno-szpiegowskiej prowadzonej przez sowieckie GPU w latach 1922-1927. Analiza tego opracowania opiera się na wyszczególnieniu błędów popełnionych przez autora i zestawieniu ich z danymi źródłowymi. Następstwem enumeratywnego wylicze¬nia znaczących nieścisłości faktograficznych w tekście Drymmera jest analiza tez istot¬nych dla historii Trustu, zestawiona z twierdzeniami autora dotyczącymi jego osobistych zasług w przejrzeniu sowieckiej prowokacji oraz roli, jaką miał odegrać w sprawie Józef Piłsudski. Wyciągane wnioski z jednej strony podważają wiarygodność WT. Drymmera i wskazują na jego skłonności do konfabulowania, a z drugiej wskazują na mechanizmy decyzyjne ówczesnej władzy. Zestawione pozwalają wysnuć hipotezę o niemożliwości zaistnienia wydarzeń relacjonowanych przez autora artykułu. To zaś pozwala sformu¬łować postulaty badawcze dotyczące rzeczywistego przebiegu i powodów zakończenia operacji „Trust".

The article The participation ofW.T. Drymmer in the MOCR-Trust affair in the context of his article "Trust" of 1965 - attempt of an analysis is a careful historical analysis of a memory essay by a former officer of the Department II of the General Headquarters of the Polish Army and a high official of the pre-war Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Wiktor Tomir Drymmer dedicated his whole publication to the operation Trust, that was a disinformation-espionage action carried out by the Soviet GRU in 1922-1927. The analysis of this publication bases on a detailed specification of mistakes made by the author and their confrontation with source materials. The consequence of the enu¬meration of considerable factual inaccuracies in Drymmer's text constitutes a profound analysis of the significant for historiography theses presented in Trust. The analysis is then compared with the author's statements concerning his own merits in detecting the Soviet provocation and the role played in this matter by Józef Piłsudski. The conclusions drawn are based on one hand on undermining the credibility of W.T. Drymmer and on pointing out his inclination to confabulate and on the other hand on the analysis of decision-making mechanisms of the authorities of that time. The com¬parison of the conclusions allow putting forward a hypothesis about the lack of historical probability of the reported events. Finally, it lets formulate further research plans more correctly as regards the real course of the Soviet operation and the reasons of its termi¬nation.
