Article is an attempt of showing legitimacy of philosophical and ethical consideration on the concept of a sustainable development. Starting from the assumptions of philosophy of development, it presents philosophical and ethical aspects of this idea. The main part of the article focuses on philosophical issue of principles of sustainable development.
