Abstracts
In view of thedr relatively great strength, light-weight and elasticity the supporting constructions can find their application as the substitute supports in conservation and restoration of mural paintings. The author has carried out a series of experiments testing various 'kinds of constructions while restoring the mural paintings in the church at Stanków, Zielona Góra voivodshiip. As a result of her experiments the nine supporting constructions were developed, namely those using — (1) table tennis celluloid balls, (2) egg packaging pads, (3) celluloid strips, (4) paper tubes (fixed longitudinally), (5) paper tubes, variant I (fixed crosswise), (6) paper tubes, variant II (fixed crosswise), (7) cut-to-measure paper strips (latticed construction), (8) double-tee bars, (9) celluloid strips, (10) corrugated multi-layer material. Prom among the above constructions has been chosen that made of egg packaging pads constituting a filler saturated with “Epidian 4” glue fixed together with a glass fibre plate. On the thus prepared cradle the mural painting has been placed and the restoration works started.
