Niniejszy tekst stanowi drugą część serii poświęconej obronie metody refleksyjnej równowagi. Dotyczy zarzutu błędnego koła, zgodnie z którym metoda ta systematyzuje jedynie nasze, pozbawione wartości poznawczej, rozważne sądy moralne, stanowiące odbicie naszego uwarunkowania kulturowego, wychowania, stronniczości itd. Uzyskanie koherencji między rozważnymi sądami moralnymi, nawet jeśli do tego punktu równowagi wprowadzimy wiele teorii naukowych, nie podnosi ich wartości poznawczej. Obrona przed tym zarzutem zostanie przeprowadzona w kilku krokach. Krok pierwszy stanowić będzie krytyczna analiza samego zarzutu i próba wykazania jego słabości. Krok drugi będzie polegał na pozytywnej argumentacji na rzecz wstępnej wiarygodności moralnych intuicji leżących u podstaw formułowania naszych rozważnych sądów moralnych. W argumentacji tej będę odwoływał się zarówno do empirycznych teorii kognitywistycznych jak i do argumentów introspekcyjnych. Jeśli rozważne sądy maja minimalną przynajmniej wartość epistemiczną, wówczas ich systematyzacja i integracja z szerszym zbiorem przekonań, zasad i teorii nie ma już charakteru zawieszonego w próżni błędnego koła.

The article is the second in a series defending the method of reflective equilibrium and focuses on the vicious circle objection, according to which the method merely systematizes our considered moral judgements, which in turn are merely a reflection of our cultural conditioning, bias, etc., and thus have no epistemic credibility. The introduction of a certain level of coherence between these and moral principles (including background theories), the argument goes, does not elevate the epistemic status of our moral convictions. The defense of the method is carried out as follows: first, I critically present the objection and point out its weaknesses; secondly, I offer positive argumentation for the credibility of considered moral judgements. If they have at least some minimal positive epistemic status, then their equilibrium with moral principles and background theories can no longer be claimed to be an instance of a vicious circle.
