The nineteenth century is the time of the implementation of the classical grammar school. Its program was arrange so that high school graduates could become Latin fluently in speech and writing. During this time were published numerous textbooks and dictionaries for school use. Among them The Polish-Latin Dictionary by Antoni Bielikowicz. Nowadays dictionary has forgotten, although considered to be the best of Polish-Latin dictionaries (it contains the most extensive number of passwords, has a clear structure and rich exemplification). The purpose of this paper is an attempt to the general characteristics of this dictionary and answer questions: 1) which passwords contains this dictionary; what is the principle of selection passwords; what picture of the world emerges from this dictionary – what can say the person who will use this dictionary?; 2) if this dictionary can be an important source of research on Polish lexicon of nineteenth century? The lexical backdrop, which will be the basis for analysis, were made a The Polish Language Dictionary by Samuel Linde and The Vilnius Dictionary.
