The text is a first part of a discourse dedicated to the consequences of Kant’s theories of the judgement of taste and of fine arts for the constitution of both the idea of autonomous music and contrary conceptions, defining the music as a bearer of meaning. This first part concentrates on ambivalencies of Kant’s text itself and various possibilities of its interpretation. The main goal is to show Kant’s aesthetics as a foundation of the whole discoursive field of modern debates on music.
