Abstracts

Since the beginning stock exchanges used a variety of technologies. However, technological innovation was constrained by the exchange members who accepted only solution that does not infringe the sources of their income. Over time, environmental conditions have forced gradual electronisation of stock exchange. It was connected with profound transformations in the functioning of stock exchanges - change forms of investment, disintermediation and demutualization of stock exchanges, the development of OTC markets. Changes in functioning rules of stock exchanges caused numerous effects, a positive-increase liquidity and transparency of securities markets, expanding investment opportunities-as well as negative, mainly associated with greater risk of financial crises.
