Rev. Piotr Hołyński (1892-1974) was a religious instructor of Greek Catholic rite in the Przemyśl educational institutions between 1926 and 1939. Between the wars and in the first years of WWII he kept a diary (which he called “the Notebook”) where he described in detail the religious, political and social life of Przemyśl at the time. Of particular significance are his notes kept in September and early October 1939. Apart from Rev. Hołyński’s biography this paper includes a source edition of that text, which is a major source for the history of Przemyśl and the region during the September Campaign.
