Autor proponuje lekturę dekretu Ad gentes (7 grudnia 1965) w świetle inicjatyw pastoralno-teologicznych na rzecz „nowej ewangelizacji”. Misja Kościoła realizuje się nie tylko w przestrzeni geograficznej, ale zwłaszcza w świadomości każdego, kto otwiera się na spotkanie ze Słowem Bożym w sobie samym i we wspólnocie wierzących. Przesłanie to realizuje się w dwu wymiarach: 1) w permanentnej transformacji wewnętrznej – nawracaniu się – wspólnot eklezjalnych będących miejscem spotkania ze Słowem; 2) w poszukiwaniu nowych form profetycznego oddziaływania wspólnot wierzących – świadków Prawdy – na świat. W oczekiwaniu na adhortację posynodalną, która nada „nowej ewangelizacji” pastoralno-teologiczny kształt, dekret Ad gentes spełnia dziś taką funkcję, jak tuż po Soborze: podtrzymuje u wierzących gotowość głoszenia Słowa i wskazuje na konieczność nowych form świadectwa. Kościół, jako sakrament zbawienia, jest świadkiem Królestwa i miejscem spotkania z Prawdą. W czasie posoborowym na szczególną uwagę zasługuje ewolucja form relacji pomiędzy Kościołem i światem. Nowa ewangelizacja wpisuje się w dynamikę nowego komunikowania Prawdy.

The present author proposes a reading of the Ad gentes Decree (of December 7, 1965) in terms of pastoral and theological initiatives for the benefit of the “new evangelisation.” The Church’s mission is being implemented not only in a geographical space – but especially in the consciousness of everyone who is opened to the meeting with God’s Word, in him- or herself and in the community of the believing. This message is realised in two dimensions: 1) in a permanent inner transformation – the converting of – ecclesial communities which are the meeting place with the Word; 2) in searching for new forms of prophetic influence of the communities of the believing – the witnesses of the Truth – on the world. While awaiting the post-synodic adhortation, which is supposed to grant a new pastoral and theological shape, the Ad gentes Decree fulfils today the same function it did right after the Council: it maintains among the believing their readiness to preach the Word and it points to the necessity of new forms of evidence. The Church, as the redemption sacrament, is a witness of the Kingdom and the meeting place with the Truth. In the post-Council times, the evolution of the forms of relation between the Church and the world deserves special attention. The new evangelisation fits into the dynamics of the new communication of the Truth.
