From 1st to 6th June 2009 the 6th Polish-German Seminar Wrocław-Halle, entitled Multitude of Confessions and Religious Tolerance in Central Europe on the Example of the Cieszyn Duchy and Nearby Areas of Upper Silesia took place in Wisła (Silesian Voivodeship). Similarily to the past years the Art History of Renassaince and the Reformation Section at the University of Wrocław together with the Institute of Church History of Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg were the seminar organisers. Besides academic staff, doctoral and regular students from Wrocław and Halle, the representatives of other centres: Herrnhut, Katowice, Olsztyn, Ratingen, Siegen, Warsaw and Vienna took part in the seminar. They all attended many interesting lectures and visited a few important religious centres in the southern part of historic Upper Silesia: Bielsko-Biała, Cieszyn (both Czech and Polish), Frydek-Mistek, Jawor, Ostrava, Rudy Raciborskie, Ustroń and Wisła. The seminar participants, divided in three groups, prepared voluminous presentations of three evangelical churches in Jawor, Ustronie and Wisła, erected after The Edict of Tolerance issued by Emperor Joseph II of Austria in 1781. Andrzej Molin, mayor of the town of Wisła and Czesław Gluza, starost of the poviat of Cieszyn became honorary patrons. The whole event was financially supported by Polish-German Cooperation Foundation
