The paper is aimed at description of the most characteristic ways of formal introduction of precedential texts by a Russian poet and rock-musician Boris Grebenshchikov into his songs. More than two hundred units of that kind were found in the poet’s song texts. The analysis allowed to state that Grebeshchikov uses four main means of formal introduction of precedential units into his texts: direct citation, lexical transformations, first or last element clipping, formal deconstruction. A very characteristic feature of the poet’s idiostyle is a wide use of translation means to exploit precedential texts along with authorial transformations or clipping a borrowed precedential unit.
