Сучасна філософія науки репрезентована дослідженнями як проблем та питань класичного ґатунку, так і нових тем. Передусім зазначу, що такі добре відомі й досліджені підходи у філософії науки, як формальний, логіко-орієнтований підхід, що виник на ранньому етапі аналітичної філософії та був розвинутий у традиції логічного емпіризму, соціологічні дослідження науки, не втрачають своєї значущості й досі. Такі теми та проблеми, як побудова моделей пояснення та підтвердження наукової теорії, ролі ймовірності в процедурі підтвердження; виявлення структури наукової теорії, співвідношення теорії та експерименту, ролі моделей у репрезентації світу науковими теоріями; тлумачення природи наукового закону та каузальності, опис наукових методів та їх обґрунтування; виявлення критерію вибору наукових теорій та побудова адекватної теорії раціональності вчених, й отже, обґрунтування об’єктивності та проґресу науки; дослідження історичного та соціологічного вимірів науки, ролі цінностей в науці та багато інших, продовжують бути основними темами досліджень філософів науки.

The article gives a brief description of major developments in the philosophy of science beginning with significant transformation of the field in the mid 1990’s. These developments are grouped under the following headings: philosophies of special sciences, studies of experiment, cognitivism and naturalism in studies of scientific reasoning, «disunity of science». The author focuses on the philosophy of economics and the recent debates about the possibility of using an experiment in economics. From the prospect of the philosophy of science a remarkable fact about the new philosophy of specific scientific fields is its engagement in traditional philosophical topics from a new location. Contemporary philosophers of science still regard their traditional philosophical tools of conceptual analysis and the role of justification assessment important, but in close interaction with scientific work in particular disciplines.
