In Summer 2010 the expedition of the Institute of Archaeology of the University of Warsaw led by Dr. Andrzej Maciałowicz carried out excavations in the Przeworsk-culture cemetery in Gołębiewo (former Tauben- dorf), the Nidzica District. The site was found and randomly examined by German researchers in the second half of the 19th c. Archaeological research in this site was resumed by the IA UW in 2006-2007. The 2010 excavations were a continu- ation of investigations from 2006-2007. In result, 7 new cremation graves of the Przeworsk-culture were discovered in the cemetery (Fig. 1). 3 of these were urn graves, furnished with weaponry (Figs. 2-4). Several interesting fea- tures ofburial rites were identified in the course ofresearch. These were, e.g., the separation of weapons in a selected part of the pit, which was laid with fragments of burnt pottery. The chronology of the cemetery extends from the late pre-Roman period (the beginnings of Phase A2) to the early part of the Roman period (Phase B2). The site is subject to extensive devastation by ploughing. This is why it is planned to continue the research in future.
