The knowledge and skills needed to build up teams based on mutual trust as well as the understanding of the dynamics of teams’ development and the working out of the tools for their analysis are becoming indispensable for the efficiency and development of teams, especially teams that operate in military environment. In her paper, the author discusses the concept of team and raises the important problem of roles and the responsibility of a team’s members. She also outlines the stages in the development of a team and highlights the most important features determining a team’s efficiency. The author points out that the concept of building up teams is marginalized in the Polish Armed Forces, which need to rely on efficient teams in order to be able to fulfil their missions, achieve their aims and carry out their tasks.
