Najstarszy dokument potwierdzający występowanie okularów w Polsce jest datowany na rok 1485 i pochodzi i Krakowa. Kolejne informacje o okularach pojawiają się w następnym wieku. Notatki z XVI wieku w spisach inwentarzowych należących do poznańskich mieszczan zajmują ważne miejsce w badaniach historycznych. Artykuł prezentuje dokumenty poświęcone okularom. Zawiera także ikonografię z tamtego okresu pochodzącą z Wielkopolski.

The oldest document proving the existence of spectacles in Poland dates from 1485 and is o f Cracow provenance. Subsequent information about spectacles dates back to the following century. The ló^-century notes in the inventories belonging to burghers of Poznań play an important role in historical studies. The article presents the documents that discuss spectacles. It also contains the iconography o f that period coming from Great Poland.
