The article is devoted to 70 fragments of movable artefacts related to lighting, discovered in the town of Stargard. The material in question is in the collection of the Department of Archaeology of the Archaeological and Historical Museum in Stargard, and apart from one specimen, all items were discovered during archaeological research and interventions. This group includes: candlesticks and lamps made of clay, iron and copper alloy metals as well as firesteels, candlesnuffers and a glass mould for candle production. Most of these artefacts can be dated to the Middle Ages and the Postmedieval period, but one of the specimens - a fragment of an oil lamp whose context is not clear – is probably much older and comes from Roman times. Light is essential in human life, therefore lighting equipment was a necessary furnishing of every household and individual. Therefore, it should be a frequent material in archaeological contexts. However, only seventy fragments of such objects were found in the Old Town of Stargard. This is a small number in relation to the surface on which these items were discovered. The reason for such a state of affairs may be the fact that lighting media, which are difficult to register in archaeological material, e.g. torches, were widely used.
