Tekst poświęcony jest żołnierzom Polskich Sił Zbrojnych walczących u boku aliantów zachodnich, jacy po zakończeniu zdecydowali się na repatriację do Związku Sowieckiego. Dotyczy tych, którzy służyli w II Korpusie dowodzonym przez gen. Władysława Andersa, znajdującym się w latach 1943–1945 na froncie włoskim, a także innych oddziałów Armii Polskiej na Wschodzie. Po powrocie do domów na terenie ZSRS (przede wszystkim na Białorusi) zostali w 1951 ro ku decyzją sowieckiego kierownictwa deportowani w okolice Irkucka. Odtworzono okoliczności decyzji o represjach, warunki pobytu deportowanych, a także proces powrotu, który w wypadku większości zesłanych nastąpił w 1956 roku.

The article is devoted to the soldiers of th e Polish Armed Forces fighting alongside the Western allies, who decided to be repatriated to the Soviet Union. It deals with those soldiers who served in the Second Corps, commanded by General Władysław Anders, which operated on the Italian Front in 1943–1945, as well as other units of the Polish Army in the East. After returning home to the USSR (primarily in Belarus), in 1951 they were deported to Irkutsk by the Soviet leadership. The author reconstructs the circumstances of the decision concerning the repressions, conditions in which the deportees lived as well as their return, which took place for most of them in 1956.
