This paper presents the analysis of chosen Japanese legal provisions, in which the principle of religious freedom is reflected. The author discusses in details legal regula-tions, which form the basis of the religious freedom principle constituted by Nihonkokukenpō (Japanese Constitution) and Shūkyōhōjin-hō (Religious Corporations Act).
