Artykuł przybliża postać Aleksandra Wiktora Widery (1917– 2002), dziennikarza, folklorysty, a także poety. Aresztowany za działalność konspiracyjną i przynależność do Tajnej Organizacji Niepodległościowej (TON) Widera więziony był najpierw w tak zwanym zastępczym więzieniu policyjnym w Mysłowicach, następnie przebywał w obozach w Oświęcimiu oraz Mauthausen-Gusen. Po wojnie pełnił funkcję sekretarza redakcji pisma społeczno-literackiego „Odra”, a po likwidacji tytułu pracował jako redaktor literacki Polskiego Radia w Katowicach. W okresie pracy w redakcji Polskiego Radia swoje zainteresowania kierował ku szeroko pojętej kulturze, w tym także ludowej. Zainteresowania folklorem, przede wszystkim Śląska i Śląska Cieszyńskiego, przełożyły się na powstanie licznych audycji radiowych, ale także publikacji książkowych. Biografia Aleksandra Wiktora Widery, czytana przez autora artykułu pod kątem prasoznawczym, może stanowić przedmiot opracowań o innym charakterze.

The article outlines the figure of Aleksander Wiktor Widera (1917-2002), a journalist, folklorist and as well a poet. Arrested for the underground activity and the membership of The Secret Pro-Independence Organisation (Tajna Organizacja Niepodległościowa - TON) Widera initially stayed in the so-called ‘temporary police prison’ in Mysłowice, next, he was imprisoned in concentration camps in Auschwitz and Mauthausen-Gusen. After War, he acted secretary in an editorial office of the social-literary magazine “Odra.”After its liquidation, he worked as a literary editor for the Polish Radio in Katowice. During his work in the Polish Radio, he was interested in broadly defined culture, including folk culture. His interest in folklore, mainly of Silesia and Cieszyn Silesia regions, resulted in many radio broadcasts and literary publications. The biography of Aleksander Wiktor Widera, read by the author of the article from the media studies’ point of view, may constitute a subject of a different kind of study.
