Doświadczenie niepełnosprawności nieuchronnie wiąże się z dramatycznymi przeżyciami i zmaganiami, połączonymi z istniejącym uszkodzeniem i niepełną sprawnością organizmu. Pogodzenie się z nieodwracalnością istniejącego stanu rzeczy i nabranie przekonania, że utracone wartości można zastąpić innymi, jest warunkiem wejścia osoby niepełnosprawnej na drogę rozwoju. Akceptacja tych dyspozycji i możliwości, które pozostały mimo uszkodzenia, jest podstawą adaptacji życiowej. Najpełniejsze warunki rozwoju osoby niepełnosprawnej stwarza jej aktywne uczestnictwo we własnej rehabilitacji, rozumianej jako proces złożony z powiązanych ze sobą i wzajemnie od siebie zależnych ogniw. Celem artykułu jest prezentacja dobrych praktyk, podejmowanych na rzecz osób niepełnosprawnych poprzez realizację programu aktywizacji zawodowej i społecznej jako modelowego wsparcia kierowanego do osób niepełnosprawnych na współczesnym rynku pracy. W opinii autora „[…] niepełnosprawni to grupa społeczna, która powinna mieć pełne prawo do pełnego uczestnictwa w rynku pracy. The experience of disability is inevitably connected with dramatic events and struggles that stem from the existing damage and partial disability. Coming to terms with the irreversibility of the current state of things and holding a conviction that lost abilities can be replaced with new ones are the conditions that have to be met in order to initiate the development of the disabled persons. The acceptance of these abilities and possibilities, which remain despite the damage, is the foundation for adaptation to life. The ideal conditions for the development of the disabled persons are created by their active involvement in their own rehabilitation, i.e. the process that consists of links that are connected and dependant to one another. The aim of the article is to present good practices adopted for the benefit of the disabled persons through the implementation of the social and occupational development programme as a standard support aimed at the disabled persons in the contemporary labour market. Due to the essence and specificity of the research, the author assumed that participant observation will be the best tool to conduct research that will lead to the presentation of results and formulation of final conclusions. „After the permission was granted by the main contractor, i.e. the Aktywizacja Foundation, and throughout the whole period during which the programme was conducted, I observed the disabled persons that participated in training sessions”, emphasizes the researcher, the author of the article. The result of the aforementioned insightful observation is this article that presents completely new possibilities that the process of occupational development creates. According to the author’s opinion, „the disabled persons are a social group that should have an absolute right to full participation in the labour market. I hope that the attempts I made to speak on various committees, at press conferences and conference speeches about the rightness and effectiveness of actions related to occupational development will contribute to a permanent change in how society perceives the disabled persons in the labour market in Poland” [Tomasz Buchwald – a participant in a discussion during the 4th International Academic Conference „People with Disabilities in the Contemporary Labour Market – Towards Full Participation in the Labour Market”, Zielona Góra, 10 June 2014]”.
