The article considers the number of actual problems of teaching the native language which is one of the most important human values. The significance of teaching the Ukrainian language is shown, the V. Masalkyj’s and other modern scientists’ thoughts as to the objectives, content, methods and techniques of teaching are focused. The linguodidactics scientistss’ views (N. Golub, G. Shelehova, O. Goroshkina, L. Versats’ka, N. Bondarenko, A. Yarmolyuk, V. Novoselova) on the problems of the modern lesson, forms and methods of teaching the Ukrainian language, competent, personality-oriented teaching and a language personality are stated. The most important values in the sphere of school education are formulated by O. Savchenko. N. Golub reveals the essence of the method of the projects, its advantages and features, develops the algorithm of its applying at the lessons of the Ukrainian language. G. Shelehova investigates the problem of formation of the reading activity of the pupils of the 5-7 forms at the lessons of the Ukrainian language. O. Goroshkina characterizes the features of using the interactive methods at the lessons of the Ukrainian language. L. Versats’ka explains didactic, developmental and educational opportunities of general studying skills in the process of formation of the personality structure of the cognitive and language pupil’s activity as an important prerequisite of the approval of their active life position, self-discovery, self-development, their attainment of the ideals of goodness, beauty, truth, love for the native and universal culture. N. Bondarenko proves the necessity of the formation of spelling and punctuation skills of the pupils of the 5-7 forms in the process of the speech activity. A. Yarmolyuk examines the psycho-pedagogical bases of formation of valuable component of communicative competence of the pupils of the 5-7 forms, including the conditions for the creation of methods of formation of axiological-meaningful orientations of the pupils of the 5-7 forms. V. Novoselova considers the methods, techniques and teaching aids in the process of formation of lexical competence of the pupils of the 5-7 forms. P. Seligei’s point of view as to language awareness as to the respectful attitude to the language is shown. The author emphasizes the necessity of the improving the teaching of the native language, the rise of the speaker’s personal culture.
