Article aims to describe the functioning of the local press in economic conditions. The author presents this category of the press as a market product, which aims to meet the needs of the customer. At the beginning, the author explains the concept of “double character of the press”, then discusses economic terms associated with the local press and marketing processes in the local market of the press. The author discusses the importance of values in the local press and the activities of local newspaper publishers in market conditions.
