Agrarian parties on the Ukrainian political arena after 1991

Abstracts
The article presents the role of agrarian parties in the political life of Ukraine after 1991. The main focus is placed on the Ukrainian Peasant Democratic Party, Peasants' Party of Ukraine, Rural Revival Party, Peasant Party, Agrarian Party of Ukraine set up in 1996, and Agrarian Party of Ukraine set up in 2006. The origin of the parties, their statutory priorities, as well as the significance of particular agrarian parties on the Ukrainian political scene have been illustrated. In order to increase their chances in elections to the Supreme Council of Ukraine, agrarian parties frequently formed coalitions, which is why the article also discusses coopera- tion between the abovementioned parties and other political groups.
