Wszystkie metody badawcze i identyfikacyjne używane w kryminalistyce winny charakteryzować się swoją wartością diagnostyczną; każde konkretne ustalenie w procesie cechuje natomiast pewna wartość dowodowa. W artykule przedstawiono najważniejsze elementy wpływające na określenie wartości diagnostycznej metod, o których mowa wyżej, oraz wartości dowodowej z badań DNA. Zwrócono uwagę na trudności i czynniki mające wpływ na rezultat i jakość badań. Opisano również wyniki, jakie uzyskuje się podczas analizy dowodu za pomocą badań DNA.

All of the methods used in the research and identification of the crime detection should have its diagnostic value because each specific fix in process is characterised by a value of the evidentiary. The author presents the key elements which affect a value of the diagnostics methods and a value of the evidence in the DNA investigation. The author also emphasises difficulties and the factors which have a significant impact on the results and the quality of the research. The article also describes the types of possible results that are obtained by analyzing the evidence with DNA testing.
