This text is devoted to analysing and interpreting the experiences of pain (not only physical but also mental) in Blecher‘s prose. Protagonists of his novel suffer from pain which has an important influence on their lives. They try to summon up their existence, recalling events and people from the past that had impact on their lives. Because of the pain protagonists lose their personality; they perceive their bodies as a hybrid construction (half- human, half-machine). It is worth mention- ing that the perspective of observing world has changed (from vertical to horizon- tal). They are aware of the fact that time is passing. Time that spend in sanatorium is very crucial because it tames them with passing and death.
