Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie procesu rozprzestrzeniania i form dyfuzji rozwoju gospodarczego w krajach Europy Środkowo-Wschodniej, które przystąpiły do Unii Europejskiej w 2004 i 2007 r. Główna hipoteza badawcza zakładała, że na skutek procesów konwergencji na poziomie krajowym powinna następować również dyfuzja rozwoju gospodarczego w ujęciu regionalnym. Jednocześnie kolejna hipoteza wskazywała, że należy oczekiwać zróżnicowania przebiegu dyfuzji w zależności od rozpatrywanego sektora gospodarki. W celu weryfikacji tych hipotez zastosowano połączenie klasycznej metody pomiaru konwergencji typu sigma z metodą autokorelacji przestrzennej, co pozwoliło sformułować wnioski dotyczące form dyfuzji rozwoju gospodarczego w ujęciu subregionalnym.

The aim of the paper is to analyse the spread effect and diffusion of regional economic development in the countries located in Central and Eastern Europe that became members of the EU in 2004 and 2007. The main hypothesis assumes that regional convergence at macroregional level should lead to diffusion of development at regional level. However, another hypothesis suggests that different pattern of diffusion in selected economic sectors should be observed. To verify these hypotheses, the combination of classical sigma convergence analysis and spatial autocorrelation was applied that enabled to formulate conclusions on the forms of economic development diffusion at subregional level.
