As a result of successive reforms of the CAP direct payments have become an important instrument of this policy is responsible for: to support and stabilize farm incomes, maintaining agricultural land in good agricultural and environmental condition, to compensate for the costs related to compliance with Community requirements (in terms of quality and production methods) related to implementation of non-production of public goods, the provision of equal conditions of competition within the single market, agricultural-food, as well as a useful instrument in the implementation of the new challenges related to the protection of natural resources, climate change, water management, biodiversity and renewable energy.
