The article is devoted to the reception of Protestant texts of an educational character in 16th century Poland. Th e fi rst part of the article describes compounds of Reformation and humanism, their community of methods and purposes and their separate characteristics. The second part addresses the impact of mother tongue option at the expense of Latin in the church records and education as well as the effects of this process. Further results of this process are described in the third part based on pedagogic treaties, dictionaries and other teaching or pedagogic aids aimed at upbringing in 16th century Poland.
