The most recent book of Jerzy Pilch, “Zuza albo czas oddalenia” , is apolysemic opus (resemble novel, autobiography, morality play in quotation). The theme of this book is love and tołstojan analysis of men’s life at the end of the life’s road. Titular Zuza, a prostitute, represents modern body’s cult in novel. She embodies rejection of biblical Zuzanna. Pilch parodies biblical stories. An interview with the author has been mentioned in review. His statement allows the reader to under- stand author’s multiple references to youth, when – after long ailment – his health has always returned (Pilch has Parkinson’s disease). Jerzy Pilch juxtaposes life with manuscript (it is similar in its form to preface to “Rękopis znaleziony w Saragos- sie”, written by Jan Potocki). Both books present situations in which  men are “thrown” into meaningless world, torn between corporeality and spirituality.
