The status of the Polish language in the European context is constantly growing. More and more people are also interested in certificates that will prove their knowledge of Polish on a certain level. A wide range of state certificates in General Polish is on offer already, but Specific Purposes Tests are still not available. Before starting the test development some key questions need to be posed. Among others: where is the border between language knowledge and background knowledge? What kind of tasks reflect the workplace’s needs best? How to make them as authentic as possible? Who can be a stakeholder? In this article some of these issues are discussed using representative examples.
