Abstracts

The article presents the basic functions of one of the most popular geographic information system (GIS) software – QGIS, based on the examples of issues dealt with by Voivodeship Heritage Protection Offices. Spatial analyses performed with this software can be used for spatial planning, determining the boundaries of heritage protection or in the procedure for entering areas and isolated architectural objects into register of monuments. Such analyses are particularly important in activities related to the preservation of archaeological heritage.
