SOURCES OF INFORMATION AND THEIR ROLE IN SAMPLE SURVEYS
Growing resources of information on many investigated populations, and new opportunities of processing data sets raise the question of the role of prior information in further sample surveys. A sample is not the only source of information on the population at study any more, and very often is accompanied by other information. The paper presents and discusses circumstances in which non-sample information has become a new challenge for statisticians designing and conducting sample surveys.
