Trends in the development of defence technologies and industries

Abstracts

The paper discusses the main priorities in the development of defence industries, considering technological innovations, which are an important element of this development. The said issue is presented as one component of international competition, which aims to achieve military superiority over a potential enemy. The author discusses several ways in which such superiority can be established, including an arms race and international attempts at restricting it. The paper also presents unique characteristics of defence industries, regardless of what social and economic systems operate in their countries, as well as discussing major factors influencing their development. By analysing available data, the author has made predictions concerning new defence technologies in countries and regions such as Russia, the USA, and Western Europe.
