The paper attempts to assess the degree of implementation of new agri-environmental practices affecting the climate and environment on a regional basis. The data from the reports of the Agriculture Development and Modernization Agency for the years 2015-2016 and data concerning farms covered by the Polish Farm Accountancy Data Network (FADN) for 2015 were used. The area of agricultural land index, declared in directive payment forms applications for direct payments in relation to the area of agricultural land maintained in good condition was high, amounting to 98.8% and at the national level. The largest share of agri-environmental payments in subsidies to operating activities was recorded in farms from the Pomorze and Mazury regions (9%). These farms had permanent crops (11%) and herbivorous animals (12%). The lowest share of this type of subsidies was found in poultry farms (2%) and those specialized in horticulture, swine breeding, or milk cattle (3%). In turn, in farms grouped in terms of economic size, the share of agri-environmental payments among the subsidies for operating activities did not a show a higher diversification, amounting to 5-6%.
