The paper presents selected aspects of threats to the security of the external EU borders. It focuses on presenting crossborder crime, such as illegal migration, human trafficking and smuggling, as the actions that have the most serious influence on the level of security of the external EU borders.Due to using the latest bibliographical and internet sources, compiled by the services and organizations that work on ensuring the security of the external EU borders, the paper contains current statistics describing the scale of the discussed phenomena.
