Language, being the primary communication tool, should be assessed from the point of view of its actually performed function; thus, what should be taken into account are both the image of the initial production phase of the message and the situation that applies to the phase of its receipt. Taking into account all the activities that relate to the notion of message production, one cannot fail to notice that what plays an important role in the process shaping the attitude of all the participants of an act of communication to both the message content and the author of the message is its quality (and therefore both the issues of pragma-grammatical and pragma-semantic type), assessed from the point of view of the amount of comfort possible to be obtained by the message receiver. This concept, which denotes the degree of acceptance by the recipient of the received message of both the message content and the way in which these contents were obtained, has a significant impact on the amount of goodwill and the level of mutual co-operation of both the author and the recipient of the message. Currently, the notion of communication comfort has been roughly defined as either high, or average, or weak, what, actually, is not an answer to the question why certain participants of an act of communication cherish the attentive enough level of interest, whereas some other do not. Placing the answer to this question within the area of performance of a message also does not solve the problem; one’s level of language communicational competence results from a large number of variables and the way to become a fully comprehensive NNS user of the target language is long and demanding (what often means taking up a skin-deep and not highly time-consuming forms of real application of the language performed with the help of the Google translator or any other similar technical instrument). Additionally, the notion of the international way of the application of English, together with numerous claims stating that using the socalled „international English” expects concentrating on a number of standardized structures and/or expressions rather than taking into account the social/communicational/ cultural side of the language, results in a situation where communication comfort has to be recognized as a valid element of the all-over process of communication. This paper makes an attempt to delve into the issues specified above and look at the process of producing/receiving a message from the standpoint of a message recipient. While learning the target language (such as English) in classical artificial conditions, i.e. while being expected to follow the – generally observed – autocratic forms of L2 teaching, it seems very difficult for many learners (and would-be language users) to adjust themselves to the processes of language production offered by the learners educated in quite different FLL conditions, where the processes of producing a message are closely connected with the ones of their acceptance and further negotiation. A form of assessment of one’s actual potential of communication comfort based upon the issue of one’s linguistic discrepancy seems to be an offer that may appear useful when attempting to discover the possible level of one’s communicational abilities
