The article presents in synthesis the Carthusian liturgical books that contain the canonical hours, and which have been preserved in Polish archives and libraries. The author examines seven antiphonaries, three of which are located in The Diocesan Archive in Czestochowa, two remain in the Archive of the Dominican Order in Krakow, one in The Raczyński Library in Poznań and one in The Czartoryski Library in Kraków. The majority of these books date back to the medieval period, 14 th to16 th century, with only two of them coming from 17 th and 18 th centuries. The author points out some of the characteristics of the Carthusian Order’s music that may be relevant in determining the Carthusian origins of the books.
