This paper aims to present Michał Pawlikowski as a landowner and owner of the Medyka demesne in the years 1919-1939. It highlights the effort Pawlikowski put into restoring his family estate destroyed by the war and managing it until the outbreak of World War II. The author attempts to explain the complex family and financial relations connected with the estate as well as describing Michał Pawlikowski’s leading role in administering it. Pawlikowski’s difficult financial situation in the 1930s made him sell the manor lands and resulted in abandoning or suspending a lot of public and editorial initiatives.
