The article "Nature: close or far away? Ecocriticism and new ways in poetics of responsibility of nature in literature" traces some key changes in aesthetics and literary theory in reference to the relationship between humans and environment, by presenting the main positions in English and American studies in this field. The author tries to approximate ecocriticism - unknown in Polish academic discourse - understood as a post-modern proposition to recapitulate and discover what is new and problematic in our view on the world of nature through the lens of literary and culture discourse. Since modern guiding experience seems to be sourced in the environmental crisis originated from disregard of environment and non-human species, the article questions the relation between the textual world and the realm of nature. Possible answers to that issue, provided by the text, might contribute to how we understand responsibility for nature.
