Celem niniejszego opracowania było wskazanie istoty i znaczenia zrównoważonego rozwoju dla konkurencyjności gmin, jak również diagnoza i ocena wprowadzania elementów w aspekcie ekologiczno – środowiskowym zrównoważonego rozwoju w wybranych gminach. Analizę empiryczną przeprowadzono w pięciu gminach powiatu krakowskiego. Do badań został wykorzystany wywiad oraz kwestionariusz z pięciostopniową skalą Likerta. Badania wykazały, że elementy aspektu środowiskowo – ekologicznego nie są wdrażane w danych gminach w dużym stopniu, a jedynie częściowo, albo w stopniu małym. W związku z powyższym zostały sformułowane zalecenia i rekomendacje dla analizowanych gmin w tym obszarze.

The aim of this study is to identify the nature and importance of sustainable development and the diagnosis and assessment of the introduction of elements of sustainable development in selected municipalities. Sustainable development will be considered in three areas: environment, society and economy. Accordingly, the problem will be considered in a series of two articles. The analysis will be carried out in five communes of the district of Krakow. The study will be used interview and questionnaire with a five- point Likert scale . In summary, the research will be deleted profile of sustainable development in the multifaceted dimension of the surveyed municipalities. Practical implication will provide recommendations for managing the municipality in the implementation of sustainable development in terms of ecological and environmental, economic and social.
