Artykuł przedstawia historię odkrycia nowych leków przeciw cukrzycy typu 2, tzw. gliflozyn. Badania nad nimi prowadzone były w ciągu ostatniego półwiecza. Wykorzystano w nich związek wyizolowany z korzeni jabłoni w 1835 r. i odkryte w 1961 r. tzw. kotransportery. Wykazano, jakie glifozyny odkryto w latach 1999-2012. Przedstawiono zalety i wady tych drogich i nie refundowanych w Polsce leków.

This article presents how new medicines against diabetes type 2, so called gliflozines, were discovered. Research on gliflozines were carried out during last fifty years. A chemical compound isolated in 1835 from the root of apple tree and discovered in 1961 so called membrane co-transporters were used in these experiments. The article shows which gliflozines were discovered in 1999-2012. Strong points and faults of these non-refundable in Poland medicines are described.
