Therefore sketch presents a period of his youth and higher education in Warsaw, his fate of war and underground activities in the Secret Association of Rural Youth “Young Forest” (Polish: Tajny Związek Mlodziezy Wiejskiej „Mlody Las”) and a number of efforts to promote the idea of residential folk high schools during the Polish People’s Republic in the years 1945-1989 (e.g. Folk High School in Bielawki, Baltic Folk High School in Opalenie) and in the first decade of the Third Republic of Poland (e.g. the Committee for Renaissance of the Polish Movement of Folk High Schools “Young Forest” /Polish: Komitet Odrodzenia Polskiego Ruchu Uniwersytetow Ludowych „Mlody Las”).
