Rola społeczna to zbiór społecznych oczekiwań wobec jednostki i przysługujących jej uprawnień, związane z pozycją zajmowaną przez nią w grupie lub w społeczeństwie. Pojęcie roli społecznej związane jest z pojęciem pozycji społecznej. Ciekawym przykładem jest pozycja społeczna i tym samym rola społeczna starosty, gdyż pełni on funkcję przewodniczącego zarządu powiatu, stanowiącego organ wykonawczy tej jednostki. Dlatego też w swoim artykule przedstawiłam rolę społeczną starosty na przykładzie powiatu płockiego.

A social role is a collection of social expectations from an individual and corresponding entitlements related to the position held within a group or society. The concept of social role involves the concept of social position. The social position and thus also the social role of the staroste is an interesting example, since it includes the function of chairman of district management, constituting the executive body of this unit. Therefore in my article I have presented the social role of the staroste with the use of an example of the Plock district.
